Arches National Park, Moab, Utah: Some places have been photographed so many times in such heroic fashion that it becomes difficult to see what is really going on. Arches is such a place for me. Everyone has seen the famous photos of the park’s namesake rock formations, but few show the full range of the effects of weather on the landscape. This image imparts a sense of passing time.
