Andy Kaufman: A man and his mind…shot for the opening credits for the ABC TV show “Fridays.” As a guest host, Andy wanted a shot of himself sitting on a toilet. This image was the backup used to appease the censors. Years later, a similar image from this shoot was used for the cover of ‘Lost in the Funhouse: The Life and Mind of Andy Kaufman’ by Bill Zehme. The bathroom shot made its first public appearance when long time Kaufman partner and collaborator Bob Zmuda penned ‘Andy Kaufman Revealed!: Best Friend Tells All.’ The good stuff always comes out eventually. Andy would have been so proud.
